deviantART member Tanya-Dawn-Art has digitally painted the beautiful art showcased below of Hawaiian lava hitting the Pacific Ocean; although no details was given, I'll just assume that the art takes place in modern times when the Big Island is the only Hawaiian island that features an active volcano (Kilauea).

Kilauea volcano has been erupting virtually non-stop since January 3, 1983; in all of history, the volcano has created approximately 579 square miles of land (13.7% of the islands total surface area), which is the equivalent to nearly the entire island of Oahu which is 596.7 square miles.
