Wasn't amused with Mother Nature tickling its tail.
Hawaii experienced gusts of up to 50 mph today, and while most people enjoyed the cooler weather, the birds wasn't amused.
I witnessed a Pacific golden plover scream and take off while a powerful gust overwhelmed it on the ground. Amazingly, that bird could fly well in those harsh conditions, although it did take a sharp emergency dive in the middle of two buildings when the wind picked up further.
Meanwhile, a couple common mynas struggled to fly in those conditions. It's a good thing a pueo owl didn't have its eye set on those two birds...
