Mahalo for your interest [but...]
While I was searching the obituaries on a local newspapers website, I was bombarded with pop-ups stating I'd need to pay $12.50 per month to view that part of their website. After I closed those ads, they redirected me to their homepage.
That's ridiculous considering families of the deceased paid that newspaper to publish their obituary. Trying to double-dip on someones death is about as sleazy as it gets.
Hawaii is home to some of the most greedy people in the United States, but I'd never expect to see those people put a price tag on their obituaries.
Question: Should news websites charge their visitors to view their obituaries?
