The first day of school could potentially be delayed.

Historically, the Hawaii Department of Education (Hawaii DOE) has announced school closures 1-2 days before a tropical cyclone is expected to impact the state.

Tropical Storm Flossie 2019 is tricky because is not expected to shift north-northwest (NNW) until Monday, August, 3, 2019 at about 2 AM.

Unless the path drastically changes over the next three days, the Hawaii DOE could potentially be forced to cancel school even if the storm doesn't greatly impact the state.
