The weather was also a freak show.

A cold front that moved over the state of Hawaii over the past two days created record breaking heat, cold and rain in the state. Here's a list of those records:

  • A new daily high of 88 °F was set in Hilo (Big Island) on October 23, 2017. This breaks the previous record of 87 °F set in 2003.

  • A new precipitation record of 2.49 inches was set in Honolulu (Oahu) on October 23, 2017. This breaks the previous record of 1.28 inches set in 1958.

  • A new daily low of 55 °F was set in Kaneohe (Oahu) on October 24, 2017. This breaks the previous record of 66 °F set in 2001.

  • A new daily low of 58 °F was set in Honolulu (Oahu) on October 24, 2017. This breaks the previous record of 65 °F set in 2001.

  • A new precipitation record of 1.29 inches was set in Kahului (Maui) on October 24, 2017. This breaks the previous record of 0.62 inches set in 1958.
  • A new precipitation record of 5.48 inches was set in Hilo (Big Island) on October 24, 2017. This breaks the previous record of 2.55 inches set in 1985.
