We'll soon find out.
The Trump administration has given states the option to force "able-bodied" adults to work or prepare to work to receive Medicaid. All that they would need is a waiver from the federal government.
This waiver would give states the power to cut off Medicaid benefits to recipients unless they participate in approved forms of "community engagement," which includes having a job, attending school, being a caregiver, and doing volunteer work.
The only recipients that would be exempt under this guidance are "pregnant women" and "medically frail" people. Veterans that doesn't meet those requirements aren't exempt.
Considering there are over 1.7 million veterans who rely on Medicaid for health care, such guidance doesn't sound patriotic!
Kentucky's waiver could be approved as early as tomorrow! I'm predicting that waiver will be legally challenged in less than a minute...
