What a fantastic way to start the weekend.

For the first time ever -- I came within 6 six of a Pacific Golden Plover! I experienced that amazing event today after I slowly walked around a corner. I immediately stopped upon seeing that bird which stared me down for about 10 seconds before it few around a building.

I estimated that bird flew 0.06 miles in just 4 seconds, with a speed of 54 mph.

Yesterday, I saw that bird wander off into unclaimed territory that I've never seen a Pacific Golden Plover enter. That territory is surrounded by plants, and is on the boarder of another Pacific Golden Plover's territory.

I didn't get an opportunity to watch those two plovers interact with each other, because the other plover was seen approximately 0.1 miles away, which translates to 528 feet.
