If the lava ignites their pentane before they relocate it.
On May 3, 2018, a fissure opened in Leilani Estates, resulting in lava spreading hundredths of yards. Residents of that subdivision of Puna were ordered to evacuate. Nearly a week and thousands of earthquakes later, 15 fissures opened up in that location!
The lava is now approximately half a mile away from Puna's geothermal plant -- that has 30,000 gallons of pentane -- a highly flammable organic compound! I can't believe they only removed half of their pentane by now!
Governor David Ige signed an emergency proclamation today to speed up the off-site relocation or controlled leakage or burn of that geothermal plants pentane.
Shame on that geothermal plant for not acting quickly enough, and shame on Governor Ige for not forcing that geothermal plant to act quicker.
